SoundCloud discovery tools, compared

Who wrote this

We build the sub delta. This is not a Consumer Reports ranking that happens to put us first. It is a map of what people actually use next to SoundCloud: native feeds, analytics, promo, and a personal graph engine. If you want the digging workflow with no product pitch, use the how-to guide.

What problem you actually have

  • Hear what is already moving on SoundCloud: use native Discover, Hot For You, Liked By, and the Following feed.
  • Track artists you already know across platforms: Chartmetric, Eckho, or SoundCloud stats.
  • Buy reach for a release: Hypeddit-class promo tools. That is marketing, not discovery.
  • Walk outward from your own taste and keep a timestamped play-count log: that is the sub delta.

SoundCloud native (2026)

In August 2026 SoundCloud expanded social discovery: Hot For You, Liked By Your Crew, Liked By playlists, and a trending track wall. Those surfaces are strong when you want what people you already follow are amplifying. They are weaker when you want music around your taste that is not already in your follow list.

Native Discover remains useful for catalog that already has momentum. It will not tell you "this track had 400 plays when we first scored it and 12k now." That receipt lives on You Were Early.

the sub delta

A channel starts from springs (artists, tracks, tags). A proprietary graph-based engine follows that network on a schedule you do not have to babysit, and it logs SoundCloud play count when a track first shows up. Free: 1 channel, 10 springs, up to 20 For You tracks, daily scan. Pro ($12/mo or $99/yr, 14-day trial): up to 5 channels, full feed, deeper scans, velocity emails, playlist builder.

It is not a replacement for SoundCloud. Plays still happen there. It is also not analytics for a label roster, and it is not a promo network.

Questions

Is this an independent ranking of SoundCloud tools?+

No. the sub delta built this page. We compare our product to native SoundCloud feeds, analytics suites, and promo tools so you can tell them apart. For a ranked third-party list, look elsewhere.

How is the sub delta different from SoundCloud Discover or Hot For You?+

Discover and Hot For You are SoundCloud's own recommendation surfaces. They optimize for what is already circulating socially or in the catalog. the sub delta is a channel you configure: you seed artists and tags, set scan depth, and keep a play-count receipt when a track is first scored. Native feeds do not give you that log.

Should I use Chartmetric or Eckho instead?+

Use those if you need cross-platform or SoundCloud analytics for artists you already track. They are not personal discovery engines for finding tracks you have never heard.

What does velocity mean here?+

On the sub delta, velocity means a track gained a lot of plays after a channel first found it. Live examples are on /early.
